Joseph Project

Hurricane season is here — and we want to be ready before another storm hits. After what we all experienced with Hurricane Helene, we’ve learned just how vital it is to prepare in advance — not just for our church, but for our entire community. In the spirit of preparation, we’re excited to partner with McDowell County Emergency Management in launching The Joseph Project — a proactive initiative equipping local churches and community centers to serve as Points of Distribution (PODs) in the event of a natural disaster. The goal is simple: make sure no one goes without help in those crucial first 72 hours after a storm.

What We’re Collecting: To meet the urgent needs identified during Helene, we’re aiming to collect:

-5 pallets of bottled water

-5 pallets of canned protein (chicken, tuna, beans, soups)

-3 pallets of canned vegetables

-5 pallets of shelf-stable snacks (crackers, granola bars, fruit cups, peanut butter, etc.) **Please ensure all items are non-expired and shelf-stable.**

When & How to Give: Collection Dates: August 10 – August 31

You’ll see labeled pallets outside each lobby. Simply drop your donations in the appropriate area.

Why This Matters: If another disaster strikes, these supplies we collect will be stored centrally and used to resupply the PODs across the county at local churches to make sure our community has life sustaining supplies while larger relief efforts are mobilized.
